The project researched, developed, tested and evaluated selected VR applications over 5G networks, e.g. streaming 360° videos and VR gaming. These applications require and test both the high data rates and extremely low delay times of 5G networks, in the downlink (streaming to VR glasses) as well as in the uplink (streaming live content away from a 360° camera).
In addition, edge computing components are used, which 5G provides for, to achieve higher presentation quality and faster response times of the VR system when a user moves/interacts. VR systems are being developed that allow the performance of 5G to be demonstrated.
