Eureka

Eureka is a European-international network for application-oriented research and development (R&D) in Europe and offers companies and research institutions a framework for cross-border collaborative projects. Currently, 40 countries and the European Union are Eureka members. South Korea, Canada, South Africa, Chile, Argentina and Singapur are associated partner countries.

Eureka is not in itself a funding mechanism, though public funding is available to participants, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Rather, it offers a wide range of help to those interested in near-market European research and technological development (RTD), and a framework within which collaborative projects might more easily and more effectively proceed.

One of the main strengths of Eureka is its networking mechanism. You may have a project idea but need partners to take the project forward. Eureka offers a simple and easy-to-access partner search facility. Online access via the database on the Eureka website enables new project ideas to be entered directly into the Eureka network. Your project idea can then be advertised on the website and circulated around the Eureka network.

More detailed information on Eureka can be be found by visiting the international Eureka website.

The Austrian Eureka office at FFG

The FFG runs the Austrian Eureka office supporting interested parties to get access to that market-oriented European research and technology initiative. The Austrian Eureka office spreads information about Eureka and helps Austrian participants to find suitable partners. It also processes the Austrian Eureka applications and can provide co-funding for Austrian companies participating in Eureka projects.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), large companies and start-ups are eligible to apply. Universities and research institutions in Austria can participate in the projects as subcontractors or cooperation partners.
