Data Stewards 2025

Implementing Data Stewards for EU Missions Austria

The amount of data available to organisations is constantly growing. In research institutions in particular, the importance of data, the exchange of data and the opportunities to answer complex research questions with the help of large amounts of data are increasing. This increases the responsibility for the correct handling of data and, in particular, for its quality.
Data stewards are responsible for data administration and data management in a research institution. They help to manage, use, protect and store data effectively and thus support researchers in their work.
The call supports research institutions in managing, advancing and establishing research data and structures from at least one of the five EU missions (Mission CITIES, Mission WATERS, Mission CLIMATE, Mission SOIL, Mission CANCER).

Was wird gefördert?

Funding is provided for the employment of a data steward at the organisation or organisational unit. The position can be filled by a new person or by a person already employed by the organisation or organisational unit who was not previously employed as a data steward or in a comparable position.
